As an aside, my dragon story, LEARNING TO FLY, will be hitting the virtual shelves as part of a multi-book anthology. I’ll keep you updated on social media regarding purchase links, publication info, and cover pics.

Here’s a short blurb about the story:

In Ming Dynasty China, fifteen-year-old Jung discovers the nightmares cursing him are really the dreams of the slumbering dragon within. Waking the beast may free him, but taking flight means he’ll have to give up all he’s ever known and loved.

Flake-out Friday–February First

That’s one heck of an alliteration in the title there, eh? I couldn’t resist.

Anyway, I’m commenting on it being February solely because I can’t believe how fast January has gone by. I mean, seriously, wasn’t it just Christmas, like, five minutes ago? (Yes, I said that in a Valley Girl voice.)

At the beginning of the month, all the insulation in the attic had been removed (it was vermiculite–a substance often contaminated with asbestos) and I was freezing. Let me say that again. FREEZING.

Four weeks later, the entire house is fully insulated (walls and attic), and now I’m sweltering. YES. SWELTERING.

LOL!

Construction continues as a crew works to re-side the house. It’s hard to see maybe in these pics, but here’s the work in progress:

house holes

The circular holes are where the insulation was blown in.

This area has been fully sided.

siding in progress 2

I had the choice of like 30 siding colors. Because the house is Greek Revival, I fully intended on keeping the white. When I informed the fella directing the project of my plan, he was like, “Well, keep the samples, think about it for a few days. You could have different colors for the soffets, corners, molding…it’s all up to you. There’s lots to choose from.”

I chose white. For everything. (The shutters, when fixed, will still be black.)

siding in progressWhat I like most is how the siding really keeps to the style of the house.

Although, I’ll prolly have to replace all the windows next. They look kind of…old, LOL!

As for writing, I’m editing my short story, TSAVO PRIDE. I have a trailer and a cover–WOOT!–so hopefully things will be in line for an early spring release. I hope you guys like it. It’s horror, which is different from NEW PRIDE and SHIFTING PRIDE, but it’s based on some folklore in SHIFTING PRIDE. 😉

I’m also slowly drafting the sequel, FRACTURED PRIDE. It’s gonna be good, folks, I pwommiss.

How was January for youse guys? What’re your plans for February? Whose gonna see WARM BODIES? And what about BEAUTIFUL CREATURES??? 😉

Writer Wednesday–Sirens Call Publications

I’m so happy that my short story, BEGGING  DEATH, was accepted in the Carnage: After the End anthology by Sirens Call Publications!

Here’s a mini-blurb of what the anthology entails:

It’s the beginning of the end. The Apocalypse has come; and left in its wake no more than small pockets of survivors battling to stay alive.

Eep!

I’m so excited to work with the Sirens Call team–what a talented group of peeps! Click HERE for more info about the WHO behind Sirens Call Publications.

Here’s a blurb of my story:

Peter Mack experiences The Disappearing first hand–in an instant, most of the world’s population disappears and with it, Death abandons humankind. Illness and suffering remain, leaving Peter to protect and provide for the only person he knows that’s still alive, Lucas. It starts with Peter accepting The Mark of Triple Six, the militia promising safety and rations in exchange for allegiance.

Despite the illusion of security, survival is not guaranteed. A rival faction, Serpentine, invades Triple Six and kidnaps Peter and Lucas. They are separated. Unable to shelter Lucas, Peter confronts his promise to protect Lucas no matter what. Turns out, Peter must consider sacrificing everything, even eternity, for Lucas’ freedom.

Right now, I’m reading another short story anthology of theirs titled Twisted Realities: Of Myth and Monstrosity. It’s FAB!!!!! Scary, spine-tingling, and creepy, each author’s story creates a taunting tale of horror and myth turned reality. Check it out!

Writing Wednesday–Fandom

I’ve been happily and humbly surprised by the extraordinary outpouring of support my co-workers have shown me for the release of my short story, City of Lights and Stone, in the Day of Demons Anthology by Anachron Press.

I even got a picture of my first fan, Tiffany. (I signed my first autograph for her.) SO exciting!

Tiffany keeps me organized in work. And we’re both Libras (holla!).

About City of Lights and Stone: “Devils and demons are all about making deals. On the streets of Paris a man called Hector must complete a seemingly impossible task or face never-ending damnation.” ~ From theeloquentpage.co.uk
