Flake-out Friday–Trying Something New

On January 1st, I joined a group of writers and poets who committed to sharing poetry with one another throughout the year. Some ponied up and vowed to write a poem daily, while others opted to share a poem once a month. I took the moderate road, and promised to post one poem a week.

It’s been SO much fun! And let me tell you, these people are *Talented* with a capital T.

Confession: I’ve read some poetry over the years, but do not claim to be an expert, and let me tell you, writing it is challenging! I feel like a newbie writer all over again, LOL!

Mental Health Monday–Valentine’s Day Edition

It’s Valentine’s Day, which means fancy restaurants are booked for romantic dinners, long stem roses are sold by the dozen, and boxes of chocolate are all red and heart-shaped…gah!

I’m not a sappy sap, so all this pink plush teddy bear, sparkly jewelry in velvet lined boxes, and flowers that last maybe five days tops symbolism is lost on me. Don’t get me wrong, I love flowers and jewelry, but the Spontaneous Just Because Gift is *so* much better than a contrived, Hallmark Holiday one.

Am I a cynic?

Probably.

But I also enjoy a little humor, so without further ado, here’s some Valentine’s Day fun (courtesy of Savage Chickens by Doug Savage).

And, to give it the Mental Health Monday spin, I had to highlight the musings of a post-it sized Carl Jung. *grin*

Also, any reference to Hannibal Lector is just the TOPS!

Now this is more like it! Hahaha!
