A smile. An encouraging word. A thoughtful gesture. Each day people interact with us, help, and make our day a bit brighter and full. This is especially true in the Writing Community.
Take a second to think about writers you know, like the critique partner who works with you to improve your manuscript. The writing friend who listens, supports and keeps you strong when times are tough. The author who generously offers council, advice and inspiration when asked.
So many people take the time to make us feel special, don’t they? They comment on our blogs, re-tweet our posts, chat with us on forums and wish us Happy Birthday on Facebook.
To commemorate the release of their book The Emotion Thesaurus, Becca and Angela at The Bookshelf Muse are hosting a TITANIC Random Act Of Kindness BLITZ. And because I think KINDNESS is contagious, I’m participating too!
I am randomly picking Kendall Grey and February Grace, who are amazing authors who recently debuted with their Indie novels! Kendall just published INHALE, the first in her urban fantasy Just Breathe trilogy, and February just published GODSPEED, a steampunky romance with a lovely victorian, literary tone.
Do you know someone special that you’d like to randomly acknowledge?
Don’t be shy–come join us and celebrate! Send them an email, give them a shout out, or show your appreciation in another way. Kindness makes the world go round. π
Becca and Angela have a special RAOK gift waiting for you as well, so hop on over to The Bookshelf Muse to pick it up.
Have you ever participated in or been the recipient of a Random Act Of Kindness? Let me know in the comments!
Aww, thank you Laura, you are a gem and definitely one of the kindest people, writer or otherwise, I have ever come across in life! Thank you for thinking of me. xoxo bru
I don’t know Kendall but I do know February, who is kind and talented and deserves the utmost best. I will check Kendall out. π congrats Becca and Angela on the emotion thesaurus! π
So wonderful that you’ve highlighted them both! (Love your new picture!)
Both! But speaking of ROK, my attending didn’t yell at me when I woke her up at 2 am. Very kind indeed!
(ps. This is a terrific post!)
Lol! I hope you got some rest.
There are so many kind people in this community … Matt MacNish, Lydia Kang, YOU … and this is a nice way to honor them!
Thank you *so* much for the shout-out, Laura! You have been one of my biggest supporters, and I consider you an awesome friend. This post made my day!
Oh, and I just bought the Emotion Thesaurus. I’ve been to that blog before and have used their thesauri and other tools plenty of times. Very excited! Thanks for pointing me in that direction! You rock!
Great to see you doing the RAOK too! It’s a wonderful idea and way to debut Angela and Becca’s book. Happy Monday!
I’ve taken part of bestowing ROAK to others. Smiles on the faces of others bring smiles to my own. Honestly I love ROAK because they resemble the pay it forward movement. If we can only continue the practice we could change the world.
My own ROAK was when I had a flat tire and a man pulled over to assist me. I never got his name and he didn’t encrouch on a personal level, but I’m forever thankful for his guardian angel moment. I really needed it.
Hooray for Kendall and Feb! And best of luck to them w/their new books! :o) β€
Yay!! Congrats to both.
LOVE this idea. Great picks, too!
I love the purpose behind this blog fest. It is so important to network and support other writers. :))
Humph, now I feel slighted. I’m acknowledging someone on my blog on Wednesday so there.
Hurray for random acts of kindness! π
Congrats to Kendall and February!
Congrats, Kendall and February! And thanks for spreading the love, Laura!
Becca @ The Bookshelf Muse
Hey Laira do you mind if I re-blog this post next Wednesday and I’ll shoutout to your story at the end?
Sure!
Angela and Becca worked hard on this blogfest–I’m sure they’ll like us spreading the word. π
Their names are familiar. I will definitely check them out. π
I love the idea of choosing randomly. Our community is filled with so many wonderful writer and reader peeps that I had the toughest time choosing!
Yay, I love Kendall, she’s awesome. I’ll need to meet February now.
